Privacy Policy

Last Updated: October 13, 2025

Protocol Tab is committed to protecting your privacy. This privacy policy explains how Protocol Tab handles your data when you use our Chrome extension.

The short version: We don’t collect, transmit, or store any of your data. Everything stays on your device.

Protocol Tab does not collect any personal information or usage data.

Specifically, we do NOT collect:

  • Personally identifiable information (name, email, address, phone number, etc.)
  • Health information
  • Financial information
  • Authentication information
  • Personal communications
  • Browsing history
  • Analytics or usage statistics
  • Any other user data

All habit tracking data created in Protocol Tab is stored locally in your browser using Chrome’s storage API. This includes:

  • Habit names and descriptions
  • Completion states (completed, partial, failed)
  • Weekly progress tracking
  • Habit groups and organization
  • User preferences and settings

This data:

  • Remains on your device only
  • Is never transmitted to external servers
  • Is never shared with third parties
  • Is never used for analytics or tracking
  • Is completely under your control

Since all data is stored locally in your browser:

  • Uninstalling the extension will remove all associated data
  • You can manually clear data at any time through Chrome’s extension settings
  • There are no external backups or copies of your data

Protocol Tab does not use:

  • Analytics services (e.g., Google Analytics)
  • Crash reporting tools
  • Advertising networks
  • Social media integrations
  • Any other third-party services that collect data

Protocol Tab requests only one permission:

Storage Permission: Required to save your habit data locally in your browser. This data never leaves your device.

We do not request or use:

  • Network/internet access
  • Access to your browsing history
  • Access to other websites or tabs
  • Access to your personal information

Protocol Tab does not use remote code. All code is bundled with the extension and reviewed by the Chrome Web Store before publication.

Protocol Tab does not knowingly collect any information from children under 13 years of age. Since we don’t collect any data at all, the extension can be safely used by anyone.

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated “Last Updated” date. Continued use of Protocol Tab after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.

Because all data is stored locally on your device:

  • Your data security depends on your device’s security
  • We recommend keeping your browser and operating system up to date
  • Use standard security practices like screen locks and strong passwords

Since Protocol Tab operates entirely locally and collects no data:

  • You have complete control over your data at all times
  • You can export, modify, or delete your data through the extension interface
  • There is no central database or account system to manage

  • Other applicable privacy regulations

Since we collect no data, most data protection regulations do not apply. However, we maintain transparency about our practices to ensure user trust.

Protocol Tab is designed with privacy as a core principle:

✓ No data collection ✓ No external servers ✓ No third-party services ✓ No analytics or tracking ✓ All data stored locally on your device ✓ Complete user control

Your habits are yours alone. They never leave your browser.
